If you passed your car test prior to 1997 you have acquired rights (known as Grandfather rights) this means you need to take the 35 hours periodic Training. If you passed your car test after 1997 you are required to complete Initial CPC Known as Module 2 (case study, theory test) and Module 4 (practical test)
Once your DCPC is completed you will receive your DQC through the post within 6 weeks.

What are Mod 2 and Mod 4?
If you wish to become a professional LGV driver, you will be required to have a ‘Driver Certificate of Professional Competence’. This is known as the Driver CPC Qualification card (DQC). If you have never held one you will need to complete the Initial Driver Qualification by completing Module 2 and Module 4.
The steps involved are:
- Step 1 – To complete a theory test (Module 2, case study) at a Pearson DVLA test centre. Once this theory test is passed you can move on to step 2.
- Step 2 – Module 4 Practical – This is all completed here at Viamaster. You will complete a classroom based session with Module 4 test with one of our DVSA examiners.
Viamaster can support you with the full process and are here to give you advice where required.
